Find the current documents

Workplace coverage can differ between employers and employee groups. Start with the booklet and any recent notices for your own plan.

Ask about limits and conditions

Ask which expenses are covered, which are excluded, what you pay yourself and whether approval is needed before a service. Do not assume a colleague has the same coverage.

Know where to get an answer

Bring questions to your plan administrator or insurer. A general article cannot confirm whether your particular claim will be paid.

Your take-away checklist

  • Check the booklet's effective date.
  • Write down three unclear terms.
  • Ask how a job change could affect coverage.

Print this page or copy the checklist to your own notes; no personal information is required.
